Ciaran Kirwan of Meadow Garden Designers has won another prestigious medal at the Bloom Garden Show
Neven gets a grilling at Ballsbridge Motors!
Volkswagen Customers gave generously to the National Rehabilitation Centre when they bought raffle tickets at a special customer event in Ballsbridge Motors.
Well-known chef Neven Maguire proved to be very popular as 170 customers turned up for an evening with him to discuss BBQ tips and hear some of his secrets to success in the kitchen.
Refreshments were provided by With Taste and a smoothie bar from The Happy Pear was a big hit as always. Swing & Co provided the entertainment until Neven went on stage, where he generously spent over an hour and a half answering questions and talking about what is obviously his passion: cooking and food!
To celebrate the BBQ theme, The Outdoor Scene brought the outdoors into Ballsbridge Motors with a beautiful display of garden furniture. John Egan of The Outdoor Scene in Goatstown and Kildare very generously donated a deluxe Leisure Grow BBQ as one of the star prizes for the raffle. In addition, Ciaran Kirwin of Meadow Garden Designs kindly gave a prize of a Garden Design worth €1,500 to one lucky winner. Award- winning Meadow Designs specialise in contemporary and bespoke garden designs, and Ciaran has won many accolades including a medal from the Royal Horticultural Society.
Other prizes included two gourmet hampers and two dinners for two from The Happy Pear, Three deluxe valets from Ballsbridge Motors, and to celebrate the arrival of the Tiguan, three Annual Family Memberships for Dublin Zoo.
Neven also generously donated a prize to this excellent cause: dinner and bed & breakfast for two at his restaurant MacNean House & Restaurant in Blacklion Co Cavan. Given that his restaurant is booked out months ahead, this was a much coveted prize!
Over €1,000 was raised for the National Rehabilitation Centre, so thank you to everyone who bought tickets.
With customers waiting afterwards to have their cook books signed and have photographs taken, Neven proved he is definitely flavour of the month!

Focusing on recycling themes and modern living, Meadow's garden entitled "Vertical Recycled" earned universal praise from the many show-goers.
Ciaran Kirwan Meadow's Creative Director explains: "The Garden uses recovered and found materials to demonstrate how gardening can be enabled on a tight apartment balcony or in a small suburban garden. This format could also provide an excellent base for a school garden or a community space"
“It’s amazing the use you can get out of a few old Wavin pipes – this demonstrates how easy it is to recycle from household materials such as concrete blocks and old wood or metal.
The garden featured recovered tyres which were planted with herbs and Mediterranean plants to add color and texture. A crumb rubber mulch provided a novel yet environmentally friendly landscape for the garden and demonstrates how a proactive attitude to recycling can be functional and good looking.
The garden was built with the kind support of Kilmurray Nurseries (based in Gorey) who provided the wide variety of herbs and herbaceous plants.
Jenny Bristow, the reknowned celebrity chef also presenting at the show, complimented Meadow on the garden design for its simplicity and focus on important themes.
The project is one of the biggest ever completed by meadow.
According to Ciaran Kirwan, “we contoured an unused sloping space into a cascading garden with patio, hot tub and barbeque areas. Planting alone had 100 types of trees, shrubs & plants.”
"This was a very exciting project for us, technically demanding but also allowed us to experiment with some very novel concepts"
Meadow will be presenting in the Garden Forum at the Spring House & Garden Show form March 7th to 9th.
Ciaran Kirwan, Meadow's award winning garden designer will be presenting a garden design clinic at the show, where he will highlight some of the important principles to take into account when starting a project.
Ciaran has been designing gardens for over ten years and in 2006, won an RHS medal at the Tatton Park Garden Show.
